Halloween

Halloween was Renee's favorite holiday. She enjoyed decorating inside and out in the spirit of the day. When we were (much) younger she had me build some big projects to put out on our lawn. Everything about this holiday was just fun to her.

She really enjoyed seeing the children's costumes on Halloween night and always had big candy bars for those people who put some effort into their costumes. She enjoyed the socialization of talking to people and trying to (reasonably) scare the kids.

The Spaceship

It all started with the spaceship. This is actually our second model - this one had flashing lights all around it with a disco ball just inside to reflect the lights outward. She spent months looking for the aliens so we would have them walk down the ramp. Add in the smoke machine and a few more decorations on the lawn... (this is our first Halloween in Andover - it was a little light for us).

The Pirate Ship

Her imagination had no bounds. I built the ship, then had to keep adding on - the plank, the crow's nest, the pirates... and the water, sharks, ghosts coming out of the water. We had a lot of fun with this one.

Haunted Lighthouse

We added a lot of elements to this - this was our third big project so we had a little experience going in and planned a little better. There was a high-powered flashlight spinning on the same axle as the ghosts flying around in a circle above the lighthouse.

If you got too close to the entrance then a scary cat shot out at you and hissed really loud. The picture above shows roughly the same scene as below but without the smoke and lights that made this really work

Other Outdoor Decor

Our three daughters...

Enhancements to control the trick and treaters for maximum scaring.

Our fenced-in graveyard with ghosts and things coming out of the graves.

Decorating Inside

While we did a lot outside, we did more inside. She had quite the imagination and always made this holiday fun.

Mini Spooky Town

She loved building the Department 56 miniature spooky village - lots of moving things and the ever-present danger of a giant cat attacking the town!

Open Shelf Space? Not Anymore!

If there was a surface available - it got filled. I built her things that had shelves and she loved putting things on them. We cycle our decorations throughout the holidays and it's a full engagement. I had huge shelves in the garage to store everything.
